Welcome to HanGawi!
A vegetarian shrine in another space and time

Vegetarian meals, presentation of traditional teas, folk and zen music, decor filled with antiques and artifacts - all these elements complement each other providing our guests at HanGawi with a relaxed atmosphere of peace and refuge.

HanGawi's 100% vegetarian menu is based on mountain roots, greens and grains found in the deep valleys and mountains of Korea that have comprised the staple diet of ancient Koreans. From the ancient principles of Korean cuisine, HanGawi has expanded its menu to include dishes that promote good health, longevity and a wholesome diet.

HanGawi is especially proud to present full course vegetarian meals found in the prix fixe section of our menu that present an opportunity to take an exotic vegetarian adventure. At HanGawi, we ask our guests to remove their shoes because this is the first step towards leaving the outside world and entering "another world".

Enjoy your escape at HanGawi!

"Exit a busy street" in Murray Hill and enter a "temple of tranquility" at this vegetarian Korean where the "intriguing", "high-end" fare "goes way beyond kimchi" and the staff is "lovely" and "attentive"; just be sure to "wear nice socks" because you have to "check your shoes at the door."
